Welcome to Precedent & Profit — a space where corporate law, business strategy, and legal precedent converge.
My name is Atharva Das, and I’m a student at the Berkeley Carroll School with a deep interest in law, business, and the forces that shape corporate America. I’ve nurtured this passion through programs at Georgetown University and Columbia University, where I explored everything from constitutional theory to corporate governance. I also had the opportunity to attend the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., gaining further insight into our legal and political systems. This summer, I’m continuing to expand my perspective with Criminal and Corporate Law coursework at Columbia University.
Born and raised in the U.S. to Indian immigrant parents with business backgrounds, I’ve always had a front-row seat to the intersection of ambition, opportunity, and regulation. My father, a CEO in the aerospace and defense sector, instilled in me an early awareness of how corporate decisions are guided not just by the market, but by the law. My mother, a consultant, has worked with major Fortune 500 companies, exposing me to the strategic and regulatory challenges that shape corporate America from the inside out.
Why Precedent & Profit?
This blog is my way of bridging legal theory and real-world business. I break down major legal trends, explore court rulings that impact the corporate world, and examine how precedent influences profit — and vice versa. Whether you’re a student, professional, or just curious about corporate law, I hope this platform provides clear, thoughtful insights without the jargon.
Thanks for visiting. I’m excited to have you along for the journey.
